Eggless Vegetarian Chocolate CakeKrishna doesn't mind a tiffin box full of homemade chocolate cake :-)

Ingredients for Vegetarian Chocolate Cake

  • 1+3/4 cup Whole-wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1+1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup fresh Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup Cream/Malai
  • 1 tsp Coffee powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 level tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • (Optional) A few drops of Vanilla essence

Preparation of Vegetarian Chocolate Cake

Mix all ingredients thoroughly and pour into a greased baking tin. Bake at 200 degrees C for 30 minutes. Leave in the oven to cool.

Or you could microwave the cake for 10 minutes. No greasing required :-)

Using a knife, loosen the edges of the cake in the tin. Invert the cake on a plate, and slice it. Garnish with Tulsi leaves and serve to Krishna, while the cake is still warm.

Later on you could crumble a few slices into an icecream topped dessert.

Ayurvedic prescription

Whole wheat flour, butter and yogurt, make the recipe wholesome and satvic, pacifying Vata and Pitta doshas. Though coffee increases vata, in this combination, it has no ill-effects. It is a completely feel-good food - wholesome and nourishing. Kapha dosha can be increased, therefore stick to a small serving.
