Rangoli decorations from Bangalore streets, India Photo journal

Making a rangoli cheers up the entrance to my home and brightens my spirit as well.

These Rangolis are made of white, red and coloured Rangoli powders, and chalk. Festivals call for special Rangoli patterns, but everyday Rangoli designs are also great here in Bangalore. It's a privilege to walk down a residential area and find the road decorated with Rangolis, as if to welcome you :-)

This is a daily morning ritual in Hindu homes in Bangalore. A great amalgam of art in daily life :-)
