Famous Chamba shawls with beautiful embroidery were eye catchers so I bought one for myself.

A feel of Dalhousie

My days in Dalhousie were spent in complete bliss. Pristine nature overwhelmed me for the three days that I was there and I completely lost track of time.

Dalhousie is an offbeat hill station in Himachal Pradesh, it is a tourist's delight with a picturesque landscape. It is situated on the western border of the Dhauladhar mountain range of the Himalayas. A gateway for the ancient Chamba valley, it is spread over five hills - Kathlog, Potreyn, Tehra, Bakrota and Balun. The place has an old world charisma and tranquility reigns supreme.

What a welcoming site!

Hippity-Hop

I walked around on the paths dotted with pine trees and loved the enormous green cover. It felt wonderful to be alone with nature.

Buildings from the British times can be seen everywhere most of them still intact with their charm.

Dalhousie being famous for its churches, I went to see St. Paul's and St. Francis' Church. Splendid architecture and the serenity of the place swept my mind away.

I also visited the beautiful Panchpula, just 3km away that has many pools which are fed by a stream.

My next destination was Kalatope, a wildlife sanctuary which is 10 km away.

I saw the barking deer and various birds with melodious voices which attracted my attention quite easily in the otherwise quiet surroundings. It also has the Himalayan black bear and the Ghoral which I did not see. A Forest Dept Rest House is also there for night stay.

It has a wonderful view of snow peaks around

Overall I just enjoyed my long walks admiring my surroundings which gave me endless pleasure.

The Tibetan Market

Markets cater to the daily needs of the locals. Fresh fruits, dry fruits, cane baskets, woolen stuff and dolls and slippers typical of the Chamba region were seen in abundance. Famous Chamba shawls with beautiful embroidery were eye catchers so I bought one for myself.
