How to make eggless butterscotch frosting for cake

Makes: 675 gm


  • 75 gm / 1/3cup unsalted butter
  • 45 ml / 3 tbsp milk
  • 25 gm / 2 tbsp soft light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp coffee
  • 350 gm / 2 1/4 cup icing sugar, sifted


Mix butter, milk, sugar and coffee in a bowl in a double boiler or over a saucepan of simmering water. Mix till the butter and sugar melt.

Remove bowl from heat. Stir in the icing sugar. Stir until mixture turns glossy.

Pour immediately over a cake for a smooth finish or allow to cool for a thicker consistency.
