There are different colors associated with our feelings and emotions: anger with red, jealousy with green, vibrancy and happiness with yellow, love with pink, vastness with blue, peace with white, sacrifice with saffron, and knowledge with violet. Each person is a fountain of colors which keep changing.
If you have gone through a break-up which was intensely painful, that is because the pleasure in the relationship had been equally intense. It is craving that made it so painful, leaving you in the present moment with only a bag of emotions.
Breath is the link between the body and emotions and by attending to the breath you are able to soften the emotions and get rid of negative emotions.
It is stress that causes weakness, anger, jealousy and all the negative emotions. When you get rid of stress using breathing techniques, meditation and some simple exercises, it helps your body and mind and creates a sense of well-being and happiness from inside.
When you see life with the eyes of wisdom, all these negative emotions will simply drop away and you will start smiling from the core of your being.
Whenever your mind goes topsy-turvy, or if your emotions are going up and down, when your inner faith is shaken, then at such times the Sangha will carry you forward. It will help you move through the situations.
In all relationships, whether it is your parents, children, siblings, spouse, friends, families, neighbors; what is most important is your understanding of your emotions, your mind, your ability to be stable, and your own ability to see things from a broader perspective. And that is spirituality.
Leave a little room for imperfections. Imperfections exist at three levels; physical, mental and emotional, i.e., body, thought and emotions. If you don’t accept the imperfections on the physical level, you become more and more imperfect on the mental and emotional level.
Yoga itself means skill. Yoga is the skill to live life, skill to manage your mind, skill to deal with your emotions, skill to be with people, skill to be in love and not let love turn into hatred.
Peace education is missing in the world. If every child is taught the way to manage his own emotions and his own mind stuff, the world would be a much better place. You may not be able to eliminate violence totally, but you can reduce it to the minimum level.
If emotions control you, you are in a mess. You can express your emotions, I am not saying that you should suppress them. There are two different things; one is suppressing the emotions and another is being a victim of your own emotions. Most of the crime in the world has happened because people became victims of their own emotions.
Getting upset is normal, but to carry those emotions for months or years together is not normal. You should be like children; have you noticed when children are crying, it takes children just a few minutes to smile back.
In life we see all types of people – some are completely foolish, some are very wise. We see a wide range of behavior patterns, tendencies and emotions. Everything ultimately is a part of the Universal Spirit, a part of the One Reality. So just accept and take everything along.
Do not let your emotions get the better of you. Emotions have their own place in relationships. But where you have to be intelligent and act wisely, there you should not get carried away by emotions. Be alert and take intelligent action. Then you will not get deceived, and you will see that even your relationships will become sweeter and more harmonious.
When people do not use their wisdom and act purely on the basis of emotions, then you will see that they quarrel over very trivial matters. We should not give anyone a chance to take advantage of us, or deceive us.
