Wht's the relationship between Seeker, Guru and Divine? : The beginning, middle and end of a same line. It's the seed, the plant and tree.
Know that it's all one - Shiva Tatta, Guru Tatta, Atma Tattva. The differences is only in the name (flavors).
The Guru is the one who leads you to the light of the Divine (Govind). So it is right. The Guru has always held the highest position in our country since the ages. It is a very unique pedestal and we need to preserve and honour the dignity of the Guru.
The Guru Tattva is like a child – innocent, intelligent, dignified, yet humble - all the qualities present in an infant, are the signs of the Guru Tattva. And honoring the Guru Tattva is honoring oneself, it is honoring life itself. And that is Guru Purnima – celebrating and honoring the Guru Tattva.
You cannot ‘make’ or 'choose' someone as your Guru. You simply believe that someone is your Guru. We often say that "I have 'chosen' or ‘made’ someone my Guru". If a disciple thinks that he can ‘make’ someone his or her Guru, then that is not so.
The Guru is not the (physical) body. The Guru is the Divine light that resides within the body; the Guru is love.
You should never say this, that God has become a problem for you. If you long for God, or for your Guru, in your heart, then that is good. This takes you on the path of progress. If that longing is not there then there is no juice in life.
Why or how is it that only a Guru can bring about a change in a person? It is because a Guru never wants anything for himself. A Guru wants transformation in someone only because what the person is doing is harming himself or herself. A Guru looks at people with this compassionate perspective which is why people transform when they come to Him.
You should not put on a defense in front of the guru, you should be open. A guru is never judgmental, he is very accommodating, compassionate and only wants the best for you. Not even the second best, only the best!
If you hide from the guru, and don’t open your heart and share your mistakes then even if the guru wants to help you, he will not be able to help you.
When you have a Guru in life, how can there be lack of any kind? When you have a Guru, then you do not go about crying and complaining about little things in life. You gain such strength and stability, that whatever you think of starts to manifest and happen.
Just to toss a ball from one end to another, or to learn how to hit a puck with a stick, we need a coach or a guide. Then how can one not need a guide for Spirituality? A Guru is definitely needed.
Like there is fatherhood, motherhood, there is Guruhood also. You all have to play Guruhood at least to somebody. You do play, you keep giving advices and guiding people consciously or unconsciously, and give them love and care. But do it with 100 percent without expecting anything in return. That is living the Guruhood.
In life, each one of us becomes a Guru for someone or the other. What does being a Guru mean? A Guru desires nothing from you except your well-being and progress on the path. That is the Guru Tattva. You will surely have to play the role of a Guru in someone’s life.
